SKA - I would like to invite you to share with us - if you like - your response to the following question: In what ways has your “cancer related journey” impacted your desire and ability and approach to writing ? 🙏🏽
Thank you for your excellent question, dear Bela. You guessed correctly, that my cancer-related journey has profoundly influenced my approach to writing.. First off, it has instilled in me a greater sense of urgency and purpose in sharing my experiences and insights with others. Sooner or later, we all confront illness and death as an unavoidable part of life. With this awareness, I hope to offer support to others facing similar challenges.
Second, my experience with cancer has deepened my understanding of the human conditions and my compassion for all beings. Through my own struggles and those I see with friends who are going through health and other challenges, I have gained a heightened sensitivity to the emotional fluctuations of life, which I strive to reflect in my writing. In both embracing impermanence and cultivating compassion, I seek to connect more deeply with others and convey the complexities of the cancer experience with vulnerability and authenticity, recognizing that suffering is inherent to existence but can also be a catalyst for growth and transformation.
Finally, my cancer journey has taught me the power of storytelling as a tool for healing and change. Writing has served as a cathartic outlet for processing my emotions, finding meaning in adversity, and reclaiming a sense of agency amidst the uncertainty of terminal illness. So I aim to not only make sense of my own journey but also to inspire others to find strength and purpose in their own struggles, understanding that everything is in a constant state of flux and that our stories are part of a larger, ever-changing tapestry of existence.
In conclusion, my cancer-related journey has reaffirmed my belief in the transformative power of writing as a means of self-expression, connection, and healing. It has motivated me to continue sharing my story as authentically as I can, recognizing that even in the face of impermanence and suffering, our words have the potential to resonate with others on their own journeys of healing and discovery. Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to reflect on this profound aspect of my writing journey! With much love, S
