I'm delighted to introduce this Substack, where we'll delve into the intricate tapestry of existence, embracing the profound intricacies of life, death, and everything that lies between. My journey took an unforeseen turn when I received a stage 4 Bile Duct Cancer diagnosis in March 2021. Before that moment, my professional path was rooted in addressing global conflicts, championing human rights, and advocating for substantive policy changes. Join me as we navigate these uncharted dimensions together, in a more accessible and engaging manner.
Throughout my career, I witnessed firsthand how crises can serve as catalysts for profound transformations, where pain and potential intertwine in a delicate dance. I delved into a wide array of courses and certifications, immersing myself in the realms of neuroscience, emotional intelligence, meditation, plant medicine, internal family systems, organizational development, executive and team coaching, yoga, Chinese medicine, Reiki, and more.
My transition into an executive coaching role empowered me to equip purpose-driven leaders with the indispensable tools, methodologies, and unwavering support needed to unravel the constraints on leadership effectiveness and personal growth. As I’ve engaged in some of the most fulfilling work of my life, my terminal diagnosis has served as a profound canvas for inner exploration.
Amid the challenges and fleeting moments of joy on my journey with illness, I unearthed a deep wellspring of gratitude and inner peace. Through this blog, I endeavor to articulate the profound emotions, both agonizing and beautiful, that have colored my experience. Interwoven within these narratives will be the invaluable lessons I've gleaned from collaborating with determined change-makers across the globe. These encounters have afforded me intimate insights into the extraordinary courage, resilience, and enduring spirit of generosity that define the essence of the human experience.
What kind of community am I looking to build here?
I hesitated to join another yet social media platform, considering the well-founded criticisms they often receive. I don't want to burden myself with posting obligations; I cherish the freedom to share when inspiration strikes. I don’t intend at this stage to charge anyone for access. Instead, I’m exploring ways to facilitate donations that will be directed toward supporting the International Legal Foundation in its mission to deliver justice to the most vulnerable communities in post-conflict countries.
This Substack has the potential to strike a chord with a diverse audience. Whether you're grappling with illness, navigating personal challenges, pondering mortality, or engaged in the kind of work that has consumed my life, I hope that there's something here for you.
In this unfolding journey, I'm embracing serendipity, and I've made a personal commitment that even if just one reader connects with my words, it will have all been worth it. My ultimate aim is to nurture a safe and uplifting space where my words resonate with anyone who seeks meaning and connection in them.
